sorry everyone…. again!
Thank you for apologising Stuart. but there’s more to apologise for…
I got up at 3.15am this morning. Don’t really know why apart from my 6 yr old wanting my sleeping space! Anyway… I got downstairs and turned on BBC Parliament - which is often good in the middle of the night. Guess what was on. The CofE General Synod discussing at length whether women will be allowed to be bishops in 2014!!! Pleeease! Women are fantastic. By why do we have to have bishops!!!!?
At least it was on when nobody was watching. Even the Arch bish of York sounded pompous and out of touch… quoting rules and canons …. as if that’s what sets people free or inspires them to follow Jesus!? Ask yourself, WWJD? Surely not this.
Pleeease CofE! If you have to behave like an anachronistic, 13th Century, pompous, neo-chauvinist version of the Sanhedrin….. pleeease do not let anyone film you and broadcast it to the rest of the human race. we just don’t understand.
Thanks!

50 is the new 30
An article about Hollywood lovely Michelle Pfeifer (the ‘p’ is silent, as in pbanana) on the BBC website made me wonder if the alternative headline - which is true for a lot more people than Michelle’s soundbite statement - would ever make it onto our screens. 30 is actually the new 70 for millions of adults living in appalling conditions around the world and extraordinarily, 54 is the new 70 for residents of one particular estate in Glasgow.
Apparently, just about the only place where 70 is still the new 70 (and probably black is still the new black) is, Iraq.

BBC Prejudice in Washington DC
I think we’ll do a video on this soon I am so disgusted by it…
It happened at the inauguration of President Obama. Inauguration actually means a time to call on God to ask him to bless the decisions you have made. So it is no wonder that the Americans organise for someone to pray at the beginning and end of the ceremony. Even this seemed to annoy the BBC commentator.
But it got worse.
Rick Warren (possibly the most published author after God) was the first pray-er. As soon as he finished the BBC commentator cut in with a tirade about how awful it was that he had been asked to pray as he was one of these evangelical Christian pastors who actually believe something and how that is often offensive to people who find themselves condemned by someone - no matter how loving they are - who dares to suggest that they might be doing something unhelpful…
Considering how proud the BBC are at being unprejudiced (noting how they refused to broadcast appeals to help the Palestinans after the recent war for fear of seeming to take sides against those who had killed or maimed several thousands innocent people!) one might suggest this view of their presenter to be just a tad partisan, prejudiced, bigotted … but then it couldn’t be.
Because it is not, by definition, prejudiced to express a view that disagrees with Christians.
Having said that, I don’t completely agree with Rick Warren on a few things… But credit where it’s due. He will make a good Whitehouse advisor! Particularly if his only role is to pray and encourage others to do the same.
The Dalit People of India
We recently visited a friend who works amongst the Dalit people in Chennai, Southern India. Eventually we’ll have a film about it to show you, but meanwhile you an read our splendidly well written blog of the rather eventful time we had here: IndiaBlog
And there is a short slide show here:

We live in a society wedded to personal transport, most of it using a fossil based fuel for motive power. Which is great news for our friend Vaughan at whose incredibly busy garage we filmed this today.
